Killbuck Marsh is a beautiful area near Shreve, Ohio.
Brown’s Lake Bog is near Shreve, Ohio in the middle of Amish country. It is a beautiful area – quiet, except for the birds, and peaceful.
There’s a half-mile boardwalk to the lake and a half-mile walk through the woods.
Corpse Plants (Titan Arum) just finished blooming at the Chicago Botanic Gardens. If you look at the squares that have been cut out near the bottom of the plants, this is where the botanic staff obtain the pollen to obtain the seeds for future plants.
Coral Woods is a beautiful area near Union, IL. It’s part of the McHenry County Conservation District. We hiked on the Nature Trail which is considered “rugged terrain” – I think because the trail is narrow with lots of tree roots and rocks sprinkled around. It was lovely; we saw a wide variety of wildflowers -more red trillium than I’ve ever seen before.
